August 13 In the middle of nowhere
Roaming alone, by water, staring the turbulence in dark, for hours. Where should I go? I lost myself in the middle of nowhere. PS:(Aug 28) Actually, it was not taken on the Brooklyn bridge but at the ferry near the foot of the bridge. You can have a splendid view of the high rises at Wall street and whole picture of Manhattan from here, and on the fence of the ferry was engraved Walt Whitman's poem CROSSING BROOKLYN FERRY: "Flow on, river! flow with the flood-tide, and ebb with the ebb-tide! Frolic on, crested and scallop-edged waves! Gorgeous clouds of the sunset! drench with your splendor me, or the men and women generations after me!" 这几句跟老苏那段很神似啊,“大江东去,浪淘尽,千古风流人物。故垒西边,人道是三国周郎赤壁”。完全可以用作相互翻译,虽然East river跟长江比小了点,还是咸水的。 |
